Yoga Poses for Oshun - Manipura (Navel/Solar) Chakra
Boat Pose
Letβs seal our intention with a unified breath. Inhale, feel your belly rise and find the pause. Open mouth exhale- allow the belly to deflate. Pause here. As we flow, remember to tune into the four parts of your breath. SHU. Come to your sits bones. Bend your knees and bring the toes to a point toward the ground. Start to lift your toes up, the gradually legs in the air. Bring your thighs together and engage your belly to spine. Keep your chest lifted high.
Spider Variations
Come into a long morning stretch. Raise your arms above you. Bend your knees and plant the feet flat on the floor, pull your heels so close to the sits bones that you could tickle them with your fingertips. Send your arms downward toward the feet. Inhale to spider pose. Lift your belly in the air. Activate the muscles in your low back and squeeze your glutes to lift higher. Pause and breathe. Opportunity to tuck your shoulders even more by interlacing them underneath your sits bones in a bind. Take three more breaths in this posture. Bring your sits bones down to the ground. Soles of your feet touch and open your knees like a book. Put your right hand on the lower belly, left hand on top of right. Breathe here. Remind yourself of rule of four breathing, and come back to your visualization of light. We will take five grounding breaths in this position. Root your tailbone toward the ground. Allow gravity to pull you closer to the center of the Earth.
Bring your knees together and close them like a book. Thighs come to your chest, then start to rock right and left to find some release in your low back. Rock forward and use your momentum to come up to a seat.
Sphinx Pose
Inhale back up to your table-top position. Slide your right elbow to the right knee. Slide your left elbow to the left knee. Settle your sits bones down low near the heels for sphinx pose. Rock your body right and left gently. Our internal organs get a massage here, and this is also a great position for women to get relief during their cycle. Press so much into your palms so that your sits bones get lower toward your heels. Breathe here. Come back to your rule of four breathing if you have lost the cadence of your breath. Inhale back up to your table-top position.
Pyramid Pose
From a tabletop position, turn your toes and lift your hips to the sky exhale to pyramid pose. Send your hips up and back. Settle your heels downward toward the floor to find length in the hamstrings. Ground yourself in the heels and the pads of your fingertips. As you come to your hands and feet, microbend the knees one at a time and peddle the legs to find length. Open your fingers wide and create an L or J shape with your thumb and forefinger. Breath here while creating a pyramid shape with the body. Imagine the energy flowing from finger to toes continuously.
Standing Forward Fold
From your pyramid pose, take an inhale and look forward. As you exhale bring your feet behind your hands to a forward fold. Lift your hands off the mat. Allow your head to hang heavy. Open your feet wide. Bend your knees. Send the weight to your toes as if you are peering over a cliff. Opportunity to grab for opposite elbows as you shake your head yes and no. Allow something to roll off your back. For more of a shoulder stretch, and release your hands and bring them behind your back in a bind and start to pull the bind forward toward your head or perhaps over the top of your head.
