Have you met your Matcha?!?

When you think about Matcha what do you see? Is it a cup of lukewarm green tea with a frothy layer on top waiting to be savored while meditating and connecting to the rich history of this sacred ritual? Ceremonial grade matcha traditionally means that tea masters use their best matcha powder for the tea ceremony. Thus, ceremonial matcha should be the highest grade in a matcha collection and will differ across matcha brands. Our Matcha is not only one of the highest grades, but it is blended in small batches with an herbal combo that gently tackles the bacteria buildup in the colon, making it an amazing internal body scrubber as well. Herban Brand believes in making every experience a healing one… that’s why we came up with this amazing recipe that could very well be considered FOOD PORN!

Ingredients

  • Matcha Green Tea Pancakes:

  • 2 eggs

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter + extra for frying

  • 1/4 cup unrefined sugar (I used coconut palm sugar)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup flour

  • 2 TBSP Herban Brand Matcha Cleanse

  • 1 TBSP baking powder

  • 1/8 tsp kosher salt

  • Toppings:

  • I used plain Greek yogurt fresh raspberries, macadamia nuts, pepitas, chia seeds and pure maple syrup. Feel free to mix it up and top these bad boys with whatever you please!

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, thoroughly whisk together the egg, milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), sugar and vanilla extract.

  • Add the flour, matcha powder, baking powder and salt. Whisk until combined and the batter comes together. It will be thick and, of course, very green.

  • Heat a cast-iron skillet over moderate heat.

  • Brush with vegetable oil or butter.

  • Using a 1/4 cup measure, transfer small mounds of pancake batter onto skillet. Use a spatula to help even out the circle if need be.

  • Once bubbles appear and pop on the surface of the pancake, carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another minute or so.

  • Stack the pancakes and serve hot with butter, maple syrup and whatever other toppings you desire.
